About VRF Living Lab
Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) is a green building technology that maintains indoor temperatures at consistent and comfortable levels without the fluctuations typical of ON/OFF control systems. Flow is adjusted in response to changes in cooling or heating requirements. Energy use is minimized because power is supplied only when and where it is required.
VRF Living Lab is a state of the art office and training facility at CSI headquarters that showcases this technology. Our goal is to study and promote VRF technology in a real world setting.
Variable Refrigerant Flow Air conditioning has been around since the early 80’s and is the fastest growing HVAC system worldwide. Variable Refrigerant Flow Air conditioning has been identified by the Department of Energy as one of the top technologies worthy of further study.
Variable Refrigerant Flow air conditioning systems consist of multiple evaporators (with variable capacity) connected to one central variable capacity inverter driven heat pump. VRF systems feature a heat recovery mode allowing energy to be transferred from zone to zone with minimal compressor use.
Comprehensive control systems integrate with VRF systems to deliver optimum control and performance. VRF systems typically feature outstanding part load efficiencies, high COP and EER.

Variable Refrigerant Flow technology is not new to Comfort Supply, we were instrumental one of the first installations of CITY MULTI systems in North America (a prototype installation in Pittsburgh in 1997)
Comfort Supply Inc. has pioneered commercially available VRF systems in western Pennsylvania since 2003 and has completed more than 200 installations using CITY MULTI systems.
Our staff has been expertly trained in advanced design, installation and service of CITY MULTI VRF systems. We are a member of Mitsubishi Advanced Product Division Diamond Service Group and are NATE certified.
Recently, the company participated in the design and construction of a solar-powered house that competed in the first Solar Decathlon, Sept. 27 - Oct. 4, 2007 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
